Stephen Album sale 43, lot 2252

This specimen was lot 2252 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "NASSAU: Duke Wilhelm, 1816-1839, BI 6 kreuzer, 1818, lustrous, NGC graded MS63." This state, formed in 1816 by the union of Nassau-Usingen and Nassau-Weilburg, struck six kreuzer 1817-55. This type is noted for 1817-19 only. In 1866, the duchy was swallowed up by Prussia and the coinage ended, tho one branch of the family now occupies the throne of the Netherlands.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rather scarce.

Specification: 1.54-2.18 g, .375 fine silver, 20-21 mm diameter.
