This specimen was lot 31086 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Naples. Charles V gold Scudo ND (1546-1548) MS61 NGC, Naples mint, Girolamo Albertino as mintmaster. Lightly toned and lustrous, this piece is well-struck and quite appealing in hand despite the smallish flan. It is very slightly wavy, but is of good metal without cracks or annealing flaws." This type was struck for Charles V of Spain and Austria. The Spanish ruled Naples until the death of the last Hapsburg in 1700.
