Munster 1678-IL 1/8 thaler
This specimen was lot 3695 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €290 (about US$411 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"MÜNSTER, BISTUM Christoph Bernhard von Galen, 1650-1678. 1/8 Reichstaler (Blamüser) 1678, Münster. Sehr schön +. (Germany, bishopric of Münster, Christopher Bernard of Galen, 1650-78, one eighth thaler of 1678, Münster mint. Very fine or better.)"
The SCWC lists this eighth thaler, a quarter gulden (KM 86) and a one gulden (KM 87) for 1678. Under von Galen's energetic administration, Münster began to recover from the devastation of the Thirty Years War.
