Künker sale 424, lot 530

This specimen was lot 530 in Künker Auction 424 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €22,000 (about US$31,152 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · MÜNSTER, BISTUM Christoph Bernhard von Galen, 1650-1678. Dukat o. J. (1661-1678), Münster. * CHRIS - BERN : D · G · EPIS : et PRINCEPS · MON Gekröntes, achtfeldiges Wappen (Corvey, Münster, Stromberg / Borkelo - Corvey / Stromberg, Münster, Borkelo) mit dem Familienwappen von Galen als Mittelschild, dahinter Krummstab und Schwert gekreuzt///AVE MARIA - GRATIA PLENA Gekrönte Madonna mit Zepter in der Linken und dem Kind auf dem rechten Arm steht v. v. auf Mondsichel. GOLD. Von größter Seltenheit. Attraktives, fast vorzügliches Exemplar. Exemplar der Slg. Dieter Braun, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 249, Osnabrück 2014, Nr. 1731. (Germany, bishopric of Münster, Münster mint. Under von Galen's energetic administration, Münster began to recover from the devastation of the Thirty Years War. This issue was accompanied by a double ducat (Fr-1768).
