This specimen was lot 20618 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Muhlhausen (Alsace). Taler, 1623. NGC MS-63. Struck in the 18th Century, these Talers are generally very pleasing around the peripheries with strong adjustment marks in the centers. The present offering is no exception, although the excellent cabinet patina compensates well for some minor lack of central detail." This is a one year type. There are two towns named Muhlhausen in Germany; this one now in French Alsace near Strasbourg, and another in Thuringia, between Eichsfeld and Schwarzburg.
