Sincona sale 47, lot 1471
county of Montfort in 1810, on its absorption into Wurttemberg

This specimen was lot 1471 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$300 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"GERMANY, Montfort, Grafschaft, Anton V. als Administrator, 1686-1693. Gulden zu 60 Kreuzer 1690, Langenargen. Mit Gegenstempel des Fränkischen Kreises auf der Vorderseite. Fast vorzüglich. (Germany, county of Montfort, Anton V as adminstrator, 1686-93, gulden of sixty kreuzer of 1690, Langenargen mint, with the counterstamp of the Franconian Circle on the obverse. About extremely fine.)"

Montfort is an extremely obscure locality on the shore of Lake Constance in Wurttemberg. We have filed it under Austria as the counts sold out to the Austrian emperor in 1780.
