Milan 1787-M zecchino Fr-739
This specimen was lot 1886 in Jean Elsen sale 125 (Brussels, June 2015), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,927 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIE, MILAN, Joseph II (1780-1790), AV zecchino (ducat), 1787-M. D/ T. l. à d. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Crippa 16/B; Her. 73. Rare Superbe/Fleur de Coin. (duchy of Milan, Joseph II (1780-90), gold ducat of 1787. Obverse: draped, laureate bust to right; reverse: crowned imperial eagle. Rare, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
The SCWC reports this type for 1786-88 with all dates noted as scarce. It is the last ducat from Milan.
