This specimen was lot 1873 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €525 (about US$678 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"MAILAND Philipp II. von Spanien, 1554-1598. 1/2 Scudo o. J. R Sehr schön. (duchy of Milan, Philip II of Spain, 1554-98, undated half scudo, scarce, very fine.)"
The type shown here was struck at Milan for a glum looking Philip II of Spain. The Spanish issues for Milan ended with the death of Charles II in 1700, when the duchy passed to Austria, which held it until the coming of Napoleon.
