This specimen was lot 1083 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Middlesex. 1/2 Penny Token, 1796. PCGS MS-66 BN Secure Holder. Thomas Spence. Copper. Cat atop tree branch; Reverse: Dog. Sharply struck. Nice mahogany surfaces with traces of mint red. Very attractive and exceptionally choice."
