This specimen was lot 42190 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Trade Tokens. Middlesex. Spence's 1/2 Penny Token, ND (ca. 1790s). PCGS MS-63 Brown. Variety with plain edge. Obverse: Man hanging from gibbet, church in background to right, legend around "END OF PAIN"; Reverse: Legend in five-lines "MAY THE/KNAVE/OF JACOBIN CLUBS/NEVER GET A/TRICK", shamrock above, star below. Nicely preserved and attractive, this choice Uncirculated example displays lovely rich brown patina with a slight iridescent sheen that pops out when tilted in the light. A wholesome and original looking piece offering much originality and good eye appeal."
