This specimen is one of a series issued by the Mexico City mint to honor famous Mexican coins of the past, in this case the portrait eight reales of Charles III, which was struck 1772-89.
Recorded mintage: 8,000.
Specification: 33.94 g, brass outer ring with 0.925 fine silver center, .500 troy oz ASW, 39.0 mm diameter, segmented reeded edge.
