This specimen was lot 25401 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $1,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic 10 Pesos 1983, Proof 68 Ultra Cameo NGC, extremely rare proof only date with a mintage reported in the SCWC as 3!"

This type was struck in Mexico 1974-85 but the 1983 is a proof only date. The portrait is of Miguel Hidalgo, hero of the War of Independence.
