The first specimen was lot 73268 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Copper-Nickel 20 Centavos, 1983-Mo. Mexico City Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Seemingly perfect, this Gem presents tremendous luster and radiance, as well as an incredible cameo nature. Tied with just three other examples as the finest graded by NGC." This type was struck 1974-83. The Mexico mint does not produce proof sets most years but they produced a few in 1983. The succeeding type (KM 491) was also struck in 1983.
