The first specimen was lot 11274 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $764. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1824-MoJM. "Hook Neck". PCGS AU-55. Well struck. Golden toning." This is the only known date for a half real of the "hook-neck" style; it is fortunate that it is reasonably common in circulated condition. It was replaced by the facing eagle type in 1825 from Mexico City (KM 370.9) and Guadalajara (KM 370.5). The third specimen was lot 72172 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $4,392. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. Mint Error -- 2nd Strike Off Center -- "Hookneck" 1/2 Real, 1824-Mo JM. Mexico City Mint. NGC VF Details--Holed. Dramatic and impressive error on this one year type. Almost certainly unique. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors."
