This specimen is one of a series minted 1809-11 in Mexico City during the reign of Ferdinand VII. It uses the "imaginary bust" as Ferdinand, languishing in a French prison, was not available to have his portrait taken. The date is common but the SCWC prices the type at about double the preceding type of Charles IV. Assayer HJ is recorded for 1810-13.
