This specimen was lot 1838 in Sedwick sale 34 (Winter Park, FL, November 2023), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico City, Mexico, bust 1 real, Charles III, 1783 FF, NGC AU details / saltwater damage / El Cazador Shipwreck Label. Bold full details with dark gray silver-toned surfaces showing only minor saltwater corrosion. Recovered from: Cazador, sunk in 1784 off New Orleans, Louisiana." This type was struck 1774-84 before the secret debasement to 0.896 fine in 1785. The SCWC prices all the dates the same yet some dates are surprisingly scarce.
