Sincona sale 43, lot 2123

This specimen was lot 2123 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$239 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Mansfeld, Grafschaft, Hinterortische Linie Schraplau, Heinrich II. und Gotthelf Wilhelm, 1591-1594 Taler 1592. Eisleben. Sehr schön. (Germany, county of Mansfeld, Schraplau line, Henry II and Gotthelf William, 1591-94, thaler of 1592, Eisleben mint. Very fine.)"

This type was struck 1592-94 and is common. Henry II survived until 1602 and the line lapsed on his death.
