This specimen was lot 27126 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $293.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mansfeld-Schraplau. Heinrich II Taler 1596-GM, aVF, a few very light scratches are present, but overall this is an evenly toned and very collectible example of this type." Mansfeld-Schraplau was a county of utmost insignificance except for its silver mines which provided the material for an abundance of thalers. On the death of Heinrich II in 1602, the county passed to Eigentliche-Hinterort. This type was minted 1595-99.
