Steve Album Auction 53, lot 2940

This specimen was lot 2940 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAINZ: Anselm Francis, Archbishop, 1679-1695, AR 12 kreuzer, 1694, mintmaster initials CB, a wonderful lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS64, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This specimen was struck for the Archbishopric of Mainz in 1693-94 while Anselm Franz von Ingelheim ruled as archbishop (1679-95). Like many German minor issues, it is likely much scarcer than the catalog value indicates but collector demand for them is low.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 4.4 g, silver, 28 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-208.
