This specimen was lot 73014 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. British India - Madras Presidency. 1/4 Rupee, AH 1172 Year 6 (ca. 1812-17). Madras ("Arkat") Mint. NGC AU-55. Variety with oblique milling and open lotus. Struck with a frozen date and mentioning "Arkat" as its mint, this charming minor exhibits little in the way of handling and offers a hint of luster remaining in the protected areas." This issue is not listed in the 18th century SCWC but the 19th century SCWC. Altho dated in the eighteenth century, it was almost certainly made in the nineteenth century by the English on behalf of the (long dead) Mughal emperor. It was struck with frozen dates. The English made quarter rupees (KM 400, 409, 413, 425, 434), half rupees (KM 401, 402, 414, 426, 435), rupees (KM 403, 410, 415.2, 415.1, 427, 436) and double rupees (KM 404). Some were probably milled.
