Sincona sale 95, lot 4335

This specimen was lot 4335 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 60 CHF (about US$83 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Luzern, Stadt und Kanton, Batzen 1797, Luzern. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, batzen of 1797, Luzern mint. Good Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1796-97, with the 1796 being more common. In 1798, the French revolutionary army occupied Luzern and the rest of Switzerland.
