Luzern 1725-B 1/8 gulden KM-57
The first specimen was lot 3408 in Sincona sale 64 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$439 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Lucerne | Stadt und Kanton. Achtelgulden (5 Schilling) 1725, Luzern. Kleines Mzz. B auf dem Revers. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast FDC. (city and canton of Luzern, eighth gulden or five schilling of 1725, Luzern mint. Small mintmark "B" on the reverse. Rare in this condition, About uncirculated.)"
The second specimen was lot 5352 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 180 CHF (about US$271 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Luzern. Stadt und Kanton. Achtelgulden (5 Schilling) 1725, Luzern. Variante mit Wertzahl auf der Wappenseite. Schräg gerippter Rand. Kleiner Schrötlingsfehler. FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, eighth gulden or five schilling of 1725, Luzern mint, variety with the value on the arms side. Obliquely reeded edge, Minor flan flaw, Mint State.)"
Another issue of this denomination in 1725 lacks the beaded circle around the monogram (KM 56). That type is considerably rarer.
