Lubeck 1619 2 schilling
This specimen was lot 4041 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €4,200 (about US$5,496 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"LÜBECK, STADT. Doppelschilling (24 Pfennig oder 1/20 Taler) 1619, mit dem Abzeichen des Bürgermeisters Alexander Lüneburg. Gemeinschaftsprägung mit der Stadt Hamburg. Von großer Seltenheit. Sehr schön. (Germany, city of Lubeck, double schilling (24 pfennig or 1/20 thaler) or 1619, with the badge of mayor Alexander Luneburg. Joint issue with Hamburg. Very rare, very fine.)"
This type is listed for 1619 only. It is clearly marked "20 STVC ·A DALER" (20 pieces to the thaler) and "24 ₰" (24 pfennig) but was probably not worth two schilling but 1.6 schilling.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 2,53 g.
