This specimen was lot 46637 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $219.60. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. Lithuania. 3 Grosze, 1563. Vilnius Mint. Sigismund II August. NGC EF-40." In the sixteenth century, Lithuania comprised the northeast half of the kingdom of Poland whose monarch ruled the two regions separately. This type was struck in numerous varieties 1562-64. Numista calls this a three groats; we have used the German name drei groschen but one could also call it a three grosze.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.0 g, 0.875 fine silver, 21 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: Kop-3306; Gum-622.
