This specimen was lot 5164 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $172.50. The catalog description [2] noted, "Liberia. 2 Cents, 1896-H. NGC graded Proof 63 Red & Brown. The Judy Cahn Collection." This type is from a series struck in 1896 and 1906 by the Heaton mint for Liberia. Other denominations included one, ten, twenty-five and fifty cents.
Recorded mintage: 323,000 plus a few proofs.
