This specimen was lot 5165 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $460. The catalog description [2] noted, "Liberia. 10 Cents, 1896-H. Laureate head left. Reverse: Value and date within wreath. Beautiful toning. NGC graded MS-63. The Judy Cahn Collection." This type is from a series struck in 1896 and 1906 by the Heaton mint for Liberia. Other denominations included one, two, twenty-five and fifty cents.
Recorded mintage: 20,000 plus a few proofs.
Specification: 2.32 g, 0.925 fine silver.
