This specimen was lot 23182 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "LATVIA. 100 Latu, 1993. GEM BRILLIANT PROOF. Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Incredibly brilliant and alluring, with lightly frosted devices. A seldom seen type, with a mintage of 5,000 pieces and containing just over a quarter of an ounce of gold." Latvia recovered her independence in 1992 and coinage resumed in 1992.
