La Rioja 1843-RB 2 reales KM-15

This specimen was lot 31101 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $211.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "La Rioja. 2 Reales 1843-RB, VF30 NGC. A well-struck example with an attractive blend of medium to deep gray patina." This type was struck in Argentina 1843 only and is much scarcer than the SCWC indicates. A similar design was used on four reales (KM 20), eight reales (KM 8 and KM 10) and gold eight escudos (KM 9 and KM 11).
