The first specimen was lot 31100 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $170.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "La Rioja. 1/2 Real 1844-B, XF40 NGC. This provisional issue possesses well-struck details for this provisional issue with deeply toned surfaces." This type was struck in Argentina 1844 only and is rather scarcer than the SCWC indicates.
