This specimen was lot 23522 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $747.50. The catalog description[1] noted,

"La Rioja. 2 Reales 1842R, XF45 NGC, attractively toned and well-struck, light scratch across the obverse. Very scarce type in this grade and a handsome design featuring General Rosas."

This type struck in Argentina 1842 only and much scarcer than the SCWC indicates. A similar design was used on gold two escudos (KM 13) and gold eight escudos (KM 14). The SCWC warns against deceptive counterfeits.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM 12 (filed under La Rioja).
