This specimen was lot 1368 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "HOLLAND: AR 28 stuivers, ND (1693), HOL countermark on (16)85 Kampen 28 stuivers, uneven strike, countermark bold, Choice VF on Fine-VF host. Due to the high numbers of light weight coinage in circulation, coins meeting weight standards were countermarked with this 'HOL' counterstamp for Holland in 1693." This type is noted for 1680-86 and is not priced as particularly expensive tho choice specimens are doubtless rare. This one was counterstamped "HOL" in 1693, indicating that it was of acceptable weight to continue to circulate. The counterstamp is rare.

Specification: 20.51 g, .673 fine silver, .421 troy oz ASW, this specimen 19.55 g.
