Sincona sale 73, lot 1524

This specimen was lot 1524 in Sincona sale 73 (Zürich, November 2021), where it sold for 825 CHF (about US$1,062 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"JORDAN. Abdullah II. seit 1999. 50 Dinars 1999. Auf die Krönung. Nur 1'750 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. Im Originaletui mit Zertifikat. (kingdom of Jordan, Abdullah II, since 1999, fifty dinars of 1999, on his coronation. Rare. Choice Proof, Only 1,750 pieces struck, In original box with certificate.)"

Another self-congratulatory NCLT. Like all silver and gold coins of Jordan, it was not issued for circulation. The coinage of Jordan began with the issue of bronze and copper-nickel coins in 1949.

Recorded mintage: 1,750.

Specification: 16.96 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 16.96 g.

Catalog reference: KM 81, Fr-16.
