Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75360

This specimen was lot 75360 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "JORDAN. 50 Dinars, AH 1420/2000. Abdullah II. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. This beautiful Proof delivers golden and glowing luster, with a crisp allotment of details and much allure throughout." This NCLT, featuring the baptism of Jesus, has a strongly Christian theme, unusual for a country which is 95% Muslim. A silver ten dinars (KM 72) and brass five dinars (KM 71) were also struck with this design.

Recorded mintage: 3,500 proofs.

Specification: 16.96 g, 0.917 fine gold, 30 mm diameter.
