This specimen was lot 72538 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "JORDAN. 50 Dinars, AH 1416 (1996). NGC PROOF-64 ULTRA CAMEO. Independence Anniversary. Estimated mintage of only 1000 pieces." This commemorative was issued for the fiftieth anniversary of independence in 1996. Like all silver and gold coins of Jordan, it was not issued for circulation. The coinage of Jordan began with the issue of bronze and copper-nickel coins in 1949.
