This specimen was lot 2198 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it sold for $305.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "JHALAWAR: AR broad sawai rupee, Jhalawar, year 3, in the name of Queen Victoria, mount removed, as almost always for this type, choice VF, RR, ex Paul Stevens Collection. From the same dies as the specimen illustrated by Krause-Mishler." This tiny state issued an extensive series of hammered rupees and nazarana rupees. The round rupees are listed cheaply but the nazarana rupees have a high catalog value. This type is listed for VS1915 (= 1858), years 3 and 15.
