This specimen is one of a series struck 1861-70 at the Turin mint during the reign of Victorio Emanuele II of Italy (1861-78). It is struck to the same standard as the contemporary French twenty francs. It is not the highest mintage date but is the one most frequently encountered. This type was also struck in Rome (1870-78) and Milan (1872-74).
Recorded mintage: 2,981,000.
