CNG Lissner collection, lot 566

This specimen was lot 566 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $453.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY, Regno d'Italia. Vittorio Emanuele II. 1861-1878. AR 20 Centesimi. Turin mint. Dated 1863 T BN. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Gem UNC with deep multicolored toning over very lustrous surfaces. Highest ever graded for this scarce two year type. Purchased from M. Louis Teller, June 1978." This coin is a common date of a series struck 1863 and 1867 during the régime of Victor Emanuel II, first king of the unified Italy. This piece from Turin is accompanied by more from Milan. This denomination was not issued again until 1894, during the reign of Umberto I, when it was converted to copper-nickel.
