Israel 1967 10 lirot
This specimen was lot 73832 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "ISRAEL. 10 Lirot, 1967. Berne Mint. ANACS PROOF-66. Commemorating victory in the Six Day War. A tremendous proof, this wholesome piece offers stunning Gem appeal." Rapid inflation destroyed the value of the 1949 series and the coinage was reformed in 1960 to 100 agorot = one lira. This NCLT is one of a series struck 1967-74 in this module, which superseded the five lirot used heretofore. The proofs were struck in 0.935 fine silver. They accompanied a 100 lirot in gold of similar design.
Recorded mintage: 234,481 plus 50,380 proofs.
Specification: 26 g, 0.900 fine silver, 37 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-49.
