This specimen was lot 32542 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. Florin, 1937. London Mint. PCGS EF-45. A quite elusive date in the series, this charming example retains good details and sharpness, despite some evident time in circulation." After winning independence from Great Britain after World War One, Ireland went thru a civil war before settling on a free state completely separate from Britain. This issue of 1937 is scarce; only the 1928 is common. The salmon depicted honors Irish rivers.
