This specimen was lot 24152 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. Florin, 1935. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Good strike with soft satin luster. From the Brighton Collection." This type is listed for 1928-37, after which the country name was changed to simply "Eire." This date is somewhat scarce. Irish coinage was designed to circulate alongside British coinage which was 0.500 fine silver in the thirties.
Recorded mintage: 390,000 plus a few proofs.
Specification: 11.31 g, 0.750 fine silver, 28.5 mm diameter.
