This specimen was lot 42347 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. Silver 10 Pence Bank Token, 1805. George III. PCGS AU-58. Struck in Silver." The Bank of Ireland was chartered in 1783. Altho it was and is a private institution, it served many of the same functions as the Bank of England. Until 1826, an Irish pound was worth 12⁄13 of an English pound. This type, also struck in 1806, was heavily counterfeited.
