This specimen was lot 37359 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. 3 Pence, ND (1643-44). "Ormonde" Issue. Lords Justices Coinage. Charles I. PCGS VF-30. From the Richard August Collection." The Earl of Ormonde, as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, issued crowns, half crowns, shillings, sixpences, groats, threepences (shown here) and halfgroats on behalf of the doomed Charles I. The crowns are the best known but none are common.
