This specimen was lot 24125 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. "Ormonde" 1/2 Crown, ND (1643-44). Charles I (1625-49). PCGS EF-40 Secure Holder. Lords Justices coinage from the Great Rebellion. Uneven strike, toned. From the Brighton Collection." The Earl of Ormonde, as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, issued crowns, half crowns (shown here), shillings, sixpences, groats, threepences and halfgroats on behalf of the doomed Charles I. The crowns are the best known but none are common.
