This specimen was lot 72029 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAQ. 500 Fils ("Filsan"), AH 1402 //1982. Llantrisant Mint. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. Restoration of Babel series. Diamond shaped. The finer of just two seen at PCGS, this engaging Gem presents steely gray brilliance with tremendous luster. The focus is the famous Lion of Babylon--a 2,600 year old stone sculpture created during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar II." A variety exists (KM 168a) with the denomination written as "falsan". This was issued early in Saddam Hussein's career, before he was denounced as a menace to humanity.
