Sincona sale 38, lot 1448

This specimen was lot 1448 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"100 Dinars 1401 AH (1980). 1500 Jahre Hegira Moschee. Vorzüglich - Stempelglanz aus polierter Platte- FDC. (republic of Iraq, one hundred dinars of 1980, Extremely fine, ex Proof.)"

This NCLT was accompanied by a silver one dinar (KM 148) and gold 50 dinars (KM 150). If we interpret this correctly, it commemorates the beginning of the fifteenth century of the Hegira, Mohammed's flight from Mecca to Medina.

Recorded mintage: 14,000 proofs.

Specification: 26 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 25.98 g.
