Sincona sale 67, lot 4248

This specimen was lot 4248 in Sincona sale 67 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 15,000 CHF (about US$19,748 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN | Qajar Dynasty | Ahmad Shâh, 1327-1344 H./1909-1925 AD, Gold coinage. 10 Toman 1334 H. Bust half left on wreath of laurel and oak, above al-sultan ahmad shah qajar shahnshah airan, date below, rev. 1334 al-sultan al-'azam wa'l-khaqan al-afkham al-sultan ahmad shah qajar in Persian and within dotted circle, all within wreath of laurel and oak. Some hairlines, minor edge scratches on rev. Extremely fine. Ex The Adams Collection (CNG Triton XIX, January 6, 2016, lot 2497). Purchased from Michael Peykar, January 1989. Ex John Work Garrett Collection (Part I, Leu/Numismatic Fine Arts, May 16, 1984), lot 419 (purchased from Max Schulman, November 8, 1927, for $185)."

This type was struck AH 1331, 1334, 1337, all rare. It was probably intended for presentation.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 28.74 g, 0.900 fine gold, this specimen 28.66 g.
