Sincona sale 85, lot 1176

This specimen was lot 1176 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 180 CHF (about US$242 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Muhammad Ali Shah, 1324-1327 AH (1907-1909). 50 Dinars 1326 AH (1908/1909 AD), Tehran Mint. Copper-Nickel. NGC MS65. Cabinet piece. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 201."

The SCWC lists this type for AH 1318, 1319, 1321, 1326, 1332 and 1337, the latter three dates being struck after the death of Muzaffar al-Din Shah. This was the smallest denomination struck during the reign of Muhammad Ali Shah. This denomination was also struck in silver (KM 1006).

Recorded mintage: 8,000,000.
