Sincona sale 85, lot 1136

This specimen was lot 1136 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$269 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Muzaffar al-Din Shah, 1313-1324 AH (1896-1907). 50 Dinars 1321 AH (1903/1904 AD), Tehran Mint. Copper-Nickel. KM 961. NGC MS64. Magnificent condition. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 202."

The SCWC lists this type for AH 1318, 1319, 1321, 1326, 1332 and 1337, the latter three dates being posthumous. This was the smallest denomination struck during the reign of Muzaffar al-Din Shah. This denomination was also struck in silver (KM 967).

Recorded mintage: 10,000,000.
