This specimen was lot 1170 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 40,000 CHF (about US$53,864 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Muhammad Ali Shah, 1324-1327 AH (1907-1909). 5000 Dinars 1326 AH (1908/1909 AD), Tehran Mint. 23.14 g. Lion & Sun type. Of the highest rarity, probably the only known specimen. NGC UNC Details. Reverse slightly cleaned. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 196. Bought from Dr. A. Shams-Aram, London, 1982."
This denomination was also struck in gold (Fr-79) and in silver with a bust obverse.
