Sincona sale 85, lot 1164

This specimen was lot 1164 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 7,500 CHF (about US$10,010 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Muhammad Ali Shah, 1324-1327 AH (1907-1909). 1 Toman 1324 AH (1906/1907 AD), Tehran Mint. Lion & Sun type. Rare. NGC MS62. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 182. Bought from S. Cordry, San Diego 1983."

This is the only toman of Muhammed Ali with a lion obverse. Tomans were also struck for Muzaffar al-Din in AH 1324.

Specification: 2.87 g, 0.900 fine gold, this specimen 2.91 g.
